When Basic Bookkeeping Is Not Enough

Your business needs more than recorded transactions

Reliable accounting connects reconciled records to financial statements, year-end requirements and business decisions. We help turn the activity in your accounting system into organized, reviewable information.

01

Month-end is inconsistent

Accounts are not closed systematically and reports change after they are issued.

02

Balance-sheet accounts are unclear

Loans, payroll, HST/GST, assets or shareholder balances are not reconciled.

03

Reports lack meaning

You receive statements but cannot identify the adjustments or trends behind the numbers.

04

Year-end is a scramble

Records are corrected at the deadline instead of being maintained throughout the year.

A Disciplined Monthly Close

Know when the month is actually complete

A bank balance alone does not show whether the accounting is finished. A structured close confirms that key accounts have been reconciled and the period has been reviewed before reports are delivered.

  • Bank and credit-card reconciliations
  • Accounts receivable and payable review
  • Payroll and source-deduction reconciliation
  • HST/GST account review
  • Loan and financing balance review
  • Fixed-asset activity and recurring entries
  • Unusual or uncategorized transaction follow-up
  • Final monthly financial reports

Frequently Asked Questions

Business accounting questions

How is this different from basic bookkeeping?

Bookkeeping focuses on recording and reconciling transactions. The accounting service adds structured period-end review, balance-sheet analysis, financial statement preparation and reporting oversight according to the engagement.

Are bookkeeping and accounting included together?

They can be combined, but the proposal will specify which bookkeeping, accounting and reporting functions are included.

How often will I receive reports?

Most ongoing engagements provide monthly reporting. Quarterly or customized schedules may be appropriate depending on your needs and package.

Can you take over an existing QuickBooks file?

Yes. We first assess the file, integrations and reconciliations. Any historical cleanup required before ongoing work is quoted separately.

Does this include corporate tax filing?

Corporate tax is a separate service unless expressly included. Ongoing accounting helps prepare reliable year-end records for the T2 process.

Are these reviewed or audited financial statements?

No. Routine management reporting and tax-basis statement preparation do not constitute an audit or review engagement. Compilation engagements under CSRS 4200 are separately scoped when available and appropriate.

How is pricing determined?

Pricing depends on transaction volume, number of accounts, systems, payroll, AP/AR activity, reporting complexity, frequency and the condition of existing records.
