Payroll becomes risky when the process is unclear
Late changes, missing employee information and unclear responsibilities create avoidable stress. We help establish a repeatable process so the required information is collected and reviewed before each pay run.
Last-minute changes
Hours, bonuses, deductions or terminations arrive after payroll has already been prepared.
Remittance uncertainty
You are unsure which amounts are due, the applicable remitter schedule or whether payments were recorded.
Records do not reconcile
Payroll reports, bank payments, CRA balances and bookkeeping accounts do not agree.
Year-end surprises
T4 preparation reveals missing taxable benefits, employee details or remittance differences.
Support from setup through year-end
Your proposal will identify the payroll platform, pay frequency, employee count and functions included.
Payroll Setup
Payroll-account, pay-schedule and employee setup support based on the information supplied by the employer.

Clear inputs and approvals before every pay run
A dependable payroll process requires information to move between the employer, payroll preparer, banking system and accounting records on a consistent schedule.
- Employer submits approved hours and changes by the cut-off
- New hires and employee changes are supported by required forms
- Payroll is calculated using the approved information
- Employer reviews and authorizes the payroll register
- Wages and deductions are funded by the employer
- Reports are issued and recorded in the bookkeeping system
- Remittance responsibilities are completed and documented

Payroll-service questions
Which payroll frequencies do you support?
Available frequencies depend on the payroll platform, employee count and engagement. We confirm the schedule and cut-off dates before onboarding.
Who approves payroll?
An authorized person at your business must review and approve payroll before it is released. ASP does not independently authorize employee compensation or changes.
Who pays employees and CRA remittances?
The responsibility depends on the system and engagement, but the employer must always provide sufficient funds. Your proposal will state whether ASP submits payments or provides reports and instructions for the employer to pay.
Do you determine whether someone is an employee or contractor?
Worker classification depends on the facts and applicable law. We do not assume that a worker is a contractor simply because the parties use that label. A separate review or CRA ruling may be appropriate when status is uncertain.
Are T4s and ROEs included?
T4 preparation and ROE support are included only if listed in the engagement. ROEs may also require information and approval from the employer.
Can you take over payroll during the year?
Yes, subject to review. We will need year-to-date payroll reports, employee balances, remittance history and CRA account information before the first pay run.
How is payroll pricing determined?
Pricing depends on employee count, pay frequency, platform, provinces, variable compensation, benefits, reporting needs and whether bookkeeping integration or historical reconciliation is required.
